American Cut Steakhouse, Tribeca, NYC

When in NYC, you have to try some steak. It’s a little expensive, but the steak is pretty good that you’ll get your money’s worth. We tried American Cut Steakhouse during Restaurant Week with their Prix Fixe menu and some dish that’s creatively made by the chef who spent some time in Asia, adding some Asian flair to his food.

Prix Fixe $42++

This is their starter bread for every table and it’s to die for. I love the Parmesan flavored butter because it tasted like cheese but with a creamier consistency. And you can just keep on eating the bread. But I want to save some for the steak!

Lobster Bisque

Their Lobster Bisque is quite good. Nothing special but good for warm up.

Filet Mignon 8oz

I didn’t want to linger around on those pre-meal stuff and distract you from this ultimate prize. I got a medium rare Filet Mignon and it’s one of the best I’ve tried, of course. While I still prefer La Vache‘s buttery taste, this one had a stronger masculine taste for the steak, which ain’t rubbery. The portion size is just right, while at first thought is too small to keep you full.

Chili Lobster – Market Price

And while we had an awesome piece of steak, it didn’t stop us from ordering the restaurant’s most popular dish – Chili Lobster. This one had Singaporean influences, reminiscent of the Chili Crabs in hawker markets. The Texas Toast on top needs to have more slices, to scrape that delicious creamy and sour sauce from the plate. We ended up using the starter bread just to make the most out of this dish.

Our server advised us to drizzle that majestic sauce on our steak. Wow.

Popcorn Ice Cream

Capping off our meal with some popcorn ice cream, I’d say Restaurant Week was a success at American Cut Steakhouse.
