BCD Tofu House, K-Town, NYC
My craving for the western food has slightly ended, and I was looking for Asian food non-stop. My flavor of the week was Soondubu Jigae. It’s a combination of my homesickness in the West Coast and my stomach looking for something filling other than sunny side eggs and french toast combos. Nothing beats Asian cuisine.
BCD Tofu House originated from L.A. No surprises there, because dish Soon tofu is historically from L.A.’s Koreatown. Nobody does it better than L.A. when it comes to Korean food.
Imagine my joy when I found out there’s also BCD Tofu House here in NYC. I know. Contrary to popular belief, NYC doesn’t have it all. It doesn’t have its own Din Tai Fung, and its very first Tim Ho Wan branch is only about to open this Fall! That’s just seriously wrong, but well, no city is perfect.
BCD Tofu House’s Soon Tofu sets are heavenly. Like any other Korean restaurant, there’s banchan served generously. I love, love, love their kimchi. It tastes sweet and delightful at the same time. And there’s free fish served for every lunch set!
And look at that beauty of that Soon Tofu broth. How can you not crave for this?
After my meal, my craving didn’t end there. I bought BCD Tofu’s DIY Soon Tofu complete with Soondubu special sauce and a block of tofu.
Voila! Don’t I make a better Soondubu Jigae? That egg makes the spicy broth milkier.
