You’ve seen this FIRST on Candid Cuisine.
Born out of craving and love for the best burger experience in town, the so-called “Burger Boss” opened their first branch of Burger Company last August 8. The Burger Boss explored New York for all the flavors and spices and summed it up to the key factors to the ultimate burger experience:
* Gorgonzola Cheese – Blue cheese that compliments the juiciness of the burger
* U.S. Spuds – crisscut fries that neutralizes your palette and makes you crave for more burger
* Homemade buns – that enhances the flavor of the succulent meat
* Chicken wings – makes the Burger Company experience better
With just less than a month of operation, my friends and I tried out this new burger joint and find out the buzz about U.S. Certified Angus Beef patties, so they claim.
My friend mentioned that the location of Burger Company used to be a music recording studio. I like the graffiti on their walls. It looks like a leaf taken out from a New Yorker’s book. I feel like I was walking the suburbs of Soho.
Inside, I now feel I am taken into a mobile container van, that’s very diner-ish. Photos of their specialties are hung on walls that look promising for me. On another note, the place is not that well-ventilated, since it was summer hot outside. Setting that aside, I am excited to try out the Burger Company experience.
Their post-it shoutout wall is definitely creative. Customers can write or draw on post-its and post in this bookshelf. I, for one, did not hesitate plugging Candid Cuisine. Shameless plug.
Their menu ranges from Angus burgers, to buffalo wings, to spuds.
Our group ordered Mozzarella Sticks and Crisscut Fries for appetizers. Since they’re operating barely a month, unfortunately, some of the items in their menu weren’t still available like Nachos Overload, which we were very keen on trying.

I like the Mozzarella Sticks paired with Salsa. The Crisscut fries were a good complement to the burger that each of us ordered.

These char-grilled burgers come in either single or double patties, which are purely made of U.S. Certified Angus Beef. Their burgers aren’t served with fries so you will need to order them separately. By the way they grill their burgers outside.
My friend who referred this burger joint got himself the Classic Angus Burger in double patty. I find it funny that the double patties have a knife stuck in the middle. It looks drastic in photos, like a murder scene.

One of their bestsellers is the Green Chile and Sour Cream burger. I like the colors that played out on top of this burger patty.

They also have this Bacon and Egg burger that’s creative in presentation in my opinion. The homemade buns are laced with spicy potato strings that are kind of barbecued in flavor. I like the fact that the egg is sunny side up too. It’s breakfast in a bun.

I got myself the Gorgonzola and Mushroom burger, which is also their bestseller. Of course, I couldn’t eat a double patty. That would be pegged at more than 1000 calories.

My other friend also got this burger. He drizzled some mustard on it. I would say the Gorgonzola has a very strong flavor already, and I would prefer to add more catsup on it if it weren’t overflowing with white sauce.
See their burger patty? They say its U.S. Certified Angus Beef. It is delicious but I can’t quite confirm if it’s indeed 100% beef, though I didn’t taste any onions embedded in it. I also noted that the sizes of the burger patties were inconsistent. Mine was relatively small compared to the others. On a lighter note, I love the homemade bun.
On another note, they serve their burgers on baskets. Since I was eating the Gorgonzola and Mushrooms burger, the sauce dripped on the paper. Halfway on my burger and it was completely messed up. I swore I probably ate some torn paper. So I decided to eat it deconstructed using a fork.
We were supposed to set foot on another restaurant for dessert but they offered some on their menu. Again, some were not yet available like the Apple Pie. But we settled for the Fire and Ice Cake.

In the words of my friend, “If Daenaerys and Jon Snow were married, this would be their offspring ~ the Fire and Ice.” (A cue taken from the Game of Thrones for you guys out there who don’t understand the reference.)
This wouldn’t be their forte. I can’t quite understand the logic behind making chocolate cake spicy. And I can’t remember where I’ve eaten something like this somewhere. Anyway, the chocolate cake isn’t that moist, but I can’t blame them for this ~ after all, they’re just starting.
We didn’t order Buffalo Wings which could be a perfect combo to the burgers but I’d return to Burger Company for that. Also, I think the Classic Burgers are much, much better than the flavorful, extravagant flavors that the other couture burgers had. For me, burgers are best enjoyed in its thinnest and simplest form, and with simple catsup, something that’s purely American in culture. Also, something about this restaurant is fit for a Food Truck business with all their burger in a basket theme. I can definitely see this in an “Off-the-Grid” type of setting. But anyway, Burger Company is off to a good start overall. Congrats Burger Company for being different!
