CAFE CHONG SAM

Cafe Chong Sam is one of those simple, Chinese restaurants that you’d most definitely eat at if you’re looking for a cheap place to grab a bite at the Old Taipa Village in Rua de Cunha. They have a wide selection of braised noodles and noodle soup that are just alright – not too bland or too delicious.

If you don’t understand Mandarin, you can ask for an English version of their menu. Just make sure that you “point” the right order that you want. When my friends and I ate here, they interchanged the noodles soup with the braised noodles and ended up waiting double the time.

Braised Noodles Topped with Pig Skin

This is braised noodles topped with pig skin. The noodles were alright, but the pig skin is rather weird since it’s boiled.

Wonton and Beef Brisket Braised Noodles

Their wonton and beef brisket braised noodles is better than the previous and these are served with soy sauce. I have to admit, one plate of noodles weren’t enough for me, simply because the serving size was a bit smaller than expected.

If you eat here, don’t forget to bring your own paper napkins. They charge MOP 2 per paper napkin, which is kinda upsetting, for some people but if you’re immersed in the Macau city, especially in an Old Taipa Village, you would know how village people here have a hard time making a living just to get by everyday, so be considerate with them.
