TOK-YU SUSHI BAR: The Tale of the Cheapest Sushi in Town Part 1

Location: Panay Avenue cor. Scout Borromeo, Quezon City

In this feature, we revive the old tale of sushi. In the realm of Japanese cuisine where Ramen stays supreme, Sushi seems to be forgotten in this Tonkotsu and Katsu hype. We’re all immersed in this boom for Tantanmens and Tsukemens that we forgot what one thing Japanese cuisine was very popular for ~ Sushi. Candid Cuisine takes you to three (3) unique, hole-in-a-wall and cheapest sushi spots in a Sushi mini-series special, where ingredients remain fresh and unsacrificed.

Tok-Yu Sushi Bar and Restaurant

It is one of those restaurants that you would hardly ever notice. If you’re looking for high quality sushi, Tok-Yu Sushi Bar isn’t for you. Tok-Yu’s budget price for sushi platters are extremely cheap, brought down to the lowest possible price but of course you can’t expect much. But it’s a quick sushi fix and I don’t expect you to spend a lot of time in this restaurant too.

At a budget of P200, you can get their Mixed Sushi Platter:

  • 2 pieces of Tamago Sushi
  • 2 pieces of Kani Sushi
  • 8 pieces of California Maki
  • Mixed Sushi Platter

I like that it’s still near to authentic sushi. Nope, this ain’t authentic Japanese sushi!

Tok-Yu Sushi Bar also has Salmon sashimi. Again for a budget of P200, this is affordable for most people.

While I made this post intended for sushi lovers, I am inclined to posting their Beef Teppanyaki. For only P150, this dish is worth ordering.

I am a fan of Yasai Itame in any Japanese restaurant and for a cheap price, one can get this at Tok-Yu Sushi Bar.

Overall I’d recommend eating at this restaurant if you’re on the go. A friend once told me that her ideal lunch is “Sushi and Beer”. Well certainly Tok-Yu fits the spot.
