Crispy Fish Tacos
What is this sorcery? The Crispy Fish Tacos were so goooooood. It’s a must order. Singapore restaurants need to have more fish tacos. Honestly.
[Original Review: 12/01/2018]
I’ve been to The Coffee Academics once in Hong Kong to grab a coffee to go, and it fell below my expectations. Fanciful lattes exploded back in 2012 along with Instagrammable coffee, and The Coffee Academics was one of those trend “purveyors”. This time, I chanced upon Singapore’s flagship store at Scotts Square. I wasn’t expecting much from this Singapore flagship store. If the main HQ in Hong Kong disappointed me, then this shouldn’t give me room to expect.
I couldn’t say I was a fan of this “coffee bar” concept but it was very much popular to the young teens and students who got fat allowances to spend SGD 10 on a cup of coffee.
Mushroom Cream Pasta – SGD 18
The food? It was mediocre, but the prizes were astronomical for a specialty coffee shop. I only got this Mushroom Cream pasta, owing to the fact that I was super hungry and couldn’t manage to eat eggs only for lunch.
Hot Manuka – SGD 6
I don’t know what to say about my coffee, but the food came first before the coffee. So my coffee was no longer at the right temperature. I could have downed it in one gulp. The Manuka Honey was only a drizzle, so don’t get fooled – you need at least 1 tbsp of Manuka Honey a day to call it “healthy”.
I did enjoy the ambience, and felt that I can have meetings here on weekdays. The queue is so long during weekends for a coffee shop, so best to come here early if you’ve got a hungry stomach.
P.S. I stopped giving star ratings because they felt very subjective to me. Read my blog instead!
