Disney World is not just all about theme parks. While already rebranded as Disney Springs, locals and travelers still know the place as Downtown Disney in Celebration, Florida. This shopping and leisure complex is one of the best destinations that will entertain you and your family, from shopping, to dining and activities that make your vacation memorable and magical.
Downtown Disney got its Disney Springs name from the clear waters of the springs in Celebration, Florida. The summer heat makes me want to dive in this pool. It’s so beautiful and refreshing.
Shopping at Downtown Disney
I like Downtown Disney because it has a diverse range of establishments from mainstream brands like Zara and LEGO to unique Disney establishments where you can only find unique Mickey Mouse-themed products here. Other stores include the Coca Cola store, Star Wars Galactic Outpost and World of Disney.
Restaurants at Downtown Disney for the family
Their dining selection is also great, especially if after tucking your kids to bed, you’ll want to unwind with friends and have a drink or two. Here are some of the restaurants that I would recommend.
Polite Pig
Polite Pig is one of the popular restaurants at Downtown Disney, where you can taste Southern BBQ and sweet tea! I think this can rival Texas BBQ. With their order-by-the-counter system, it is more casual dining for whatever purpose you desire – birthdays, night out drinks or just having a snack. Make sure to order their Beef Brisket and sausages for a fulfilling meal.
Cookes of Dublin
I like eating fish and chips and Cookes of Dublin does not disappoint. They have good ol’ Irish selections from Pot Pies to Crispy Pork that is so good you’ll want an entire order for yourself.
Wolfgang Puck Express
While Celebrity Chef Wolfgang Puck is still working on its fine dining Wolfgang Puck restaurant in Downtown Disney, Wolfgang Puck Express offers casual dining for the family as well. Here, you can enjoy Italian pasta, chicken fingers and other dishes that kids would eat. I think this is what makes this place really great for the family and you won’t get lost with where to eat in Downtown Disney.
Entertainment
At Downtown Disney, you can let your kids play LEGO at the LEGO Store and let them build cars to race. Another unique entertainment destination is The VOID, where you can experience Star Wars in Virtual Reality. Only adults are allowed to get in and costs $50 per person. It’s a great experience if haven’t tried VR.
There’s truly a plethora of choices at Downtown Disney for everyone in the family. I think I had the most magical experience here!
