To those who have been to Osaka, don’t you think the area of Namba is too noisy?

My travels take me to Elmers Green, a Sakaisuji-born bakery and cafe that now has four stores across Japan, including Kitahama, Higashiyama, and Yodoyabashi. When I was planning out my itinerary, I chose the version of Elmers Green in the Park, where I can get a feel of relaxation from Japanese locals. While I was right that the place would be a lot more secluded than noisy Namba, little did I know that it would be located at the 4th floor of the Namba Parks shopping center. So much for wanting to get away from urban jungle, not to mention, had a really hard time looking for it as its location in Google Maps is incorrectly pinned.

While its surroundings did not disappoint, its minimalist tendencies gave me enough approval to rest here after a long day in whimsical Dotonbori. Namba Parks is a bit far from the Konamon Museum, the Kinryu ramen shops, Kamakura or the Pablo chains ~ these tourist magnets aren’t the closest to Elmers Green. Japanese brands are known to be zen, black-and-white, and androgynous, and this sparked my interest to try out Elmers Green.

The latte (400 yen) doesn’t disappoint and I was tempted to grab a slice of cheesecake that nearly everyone was eating. But I couldn’t finish one fat slice, so I got the scone instead (260yen) ~ the tartness of the biscuit perfect for redcurrant jam and butter cream (150 yen).

If anyone wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Namba, Elmers Green is one coffee shop to try, without relying too much on Chococro.
