While Granville Island is not exactly my top choice when it comes to food markets in Vancouver, I feel like I should still definitely blog about this. Granville Island is probably the most popular tourist spot in Vancouver that doesn’t feel touristy. Whenever you visit a new city, it’s always a great idea to visit the market because you can kind of pick up a city’s trade and economic potential by visiting the market. Just looking at Kuromon Ichiba in Osaka and Tsukiji Market in Tokyo (that got relocated for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics), you’ll know what I am talking about.

Granville Island is not your only market choice when in Vancouver (as there is Lonsdale Quay, which in my opinion, is tons better than Granville) but there are still standout factors for spending the entire day at Granville.

I will never get tired of seeing this view every day.

There’s always fish and chips. You can head over to Chelsea’s fish and chips where the food hall is for nice crispy beer battered cod.

When you’re doing filling the tank, it’s time to explore! You can find some unique products like Granville Island Tea Company (which reminded me of TWG Tea).

The freshest blackberries can be found here. The love of my life. I love berries so much. They’re so plump and juicy.

One of the best bites I’ve had is Lee’s Donuts. Lee’s Donuts only accepts credit cards so be warned. But grab donut holes if you can. They’re little bits of heaven at $6 per dozen.

Of course, what market would be without bagels? Although bagels in the northwest / west coast isn’t always up to par with the East Coast. The east breeds the best bagels in the world. Remember that.

And some Seafood Chowder to warm you up with the biting winds of the Northwest is always a good idea.

If you’re wondering where’s the best place to eat when in Granville Island, it’s these picnic tables just outside the dock. Sometimes, talented artists come here to play, so you’ll get a taste of Vancouver’s local scene.

I’d recommend coming to Granville Island on your own. Don’t get any food tours because Granville Island is totally accessible so keep your money, and spend it on quality food at your own leisure.
