I grew up with Harry Potter and being onsite where all the magic happened was extra special and nostalgic for me. It wasn’t about just falling in love with the story. I loved the process how all the special and visual effects came to life. Being one that came from a creative production background and having experienced creating VFX especially using motion capture and all the math that comes with it, I appreciate the ingenuity that comes with it.

There are some similarities with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Osaka or Orlando so for those looking at rides, you won’t find them here. Real Potterheads would appreciate the studios more.

With that, I wanted to leave you a good impression of the studios. If you ever get the chance to visit, make it memorable. I rode the Quidditch broomstick, filmed real time using Chromaphotography or what you may know as Green Screen; dipped my head into the Pensieve; and browsed through the pages of Continuity Binders – in awe at the amount of detail that is preserved day-to-day, just to keep the magic consistent all throughout the entire production.

The tour guides were saying that people visited the studios as many as 80 times. It’s only because they decorate the place according to the season of the year. Fortunately it was decorated to my favorite season – winter, and therefore, the Great Hall embellished like the Yule Ball.

Here are a few of my favorite snaps. Enjoy!
