HOT STAR Philippines: That 30-cm Large Fried Chicken from Taiwan! #hotstarph
I am jumping from joy. Hot Star opened its first branch at Blue Bay Walk early this year, but I haven’t been able to try it out because it was too far. So I am just ecstatic that it has opened a branch in Banawe last November 8, 2014! I can now enjoy their 30-cm fried chicken at my own convenience.
Taiwan’s Hot Star is quite well known world wide, with branches in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Australia, Macau, Malaysia and of course, Philippines.
Hot Star Philippines Menu
One thing I liked about Hot Star is that it is way better than Big Daddy’s Chicken, which has been here in the metro for many years already. And its cheap price points are incredible. It’s cheaper than McDonalds, KFC and Jollibee. I hope it can sustain itself in the long run. I am not really a huge fan of fast food chains.
There are a lot of different flavors in other branches like sour cream and garlic. So it was tad disappointing that we only have the Original and BBQ flavoured chicken here in Philippines.
Original Large Fried Chicken – P110 (+ P35 for rice and drinks)
See how HUUUUUUGE it is? It’s bigger than my friend’s delicate hand! (My friend here is a huge fan of Hot Star. I call her the Hot Star expert because she always eats at the Bluebay Walk branch!)
The chicken isn’t boneless, but at least you can tell it’s REAL chicken! My friend commented that it’s not awesome, but it’s great considering its price. And you get what you paid for.
You can choose to have it spicy as well by adding chili powder. It’s a good kick to your original chicken.
Barbeque Large Fried Chicken – P125
I shared the half of the Original Large Fried Chicken with my friend, and another half of the Barbeque Large Fried Chicken! You see if you eat an entire chicken, you feel like you get tired of eating the same thing over and over again since it’s so huge. So if you mix the two you get a lot of variety and it’s just so good.
One thing I noticed is that there are portions when the breading is kind of moist. This is something that they still need to work on the consistency in their kitchen. But I just love it because it’s unbelievably cheap.
Almond Shake is definitely good. Almond is a good cure for those with cold and cough. *thumbs up*
Chicken Skin – P45
And if you’re feeling like you want more of that crispy skin, there’s always Hot Star’s Chicken Skin. Delicious and fairly addicting.
Original Large Fish Fillet – P110
I actually prefer their fish fillet. It’s equally large as well. This is one of the best I’ve tried and again, it’s just great value for your money.
I’d recommend Hot Star’s chicken for anyone who wants a bang for their buck.
