Address: 501 Bukit Timah Rd, #01-05C Cluny Court, Singapore 259760
Opening Hours: Daily 8:30pm – 9:30pm
I don’t mean to be biased, but it seems that the selection of coffee shops in the west of Singapore are somewhat better than the ones along East Coast Road. I’m reminded of Atlas coffee house, Coexist coffee, and now, Prairie by Craftsmen. The latter also has a branch in Joo Chiat, but I found the vibe vastly different from the one in Bukit Timah.
Prairie by Craftsmen is located in a back alley at Cluny Court, and the alfresco dining is far better than the interiors. I would recommend sitting outside during less hotter days. The greenhouse effect makes it worthwhile.
(Meanwhile, I’m briefly reminded of Craftsman and Wolves in SF. I miss that coffee shop and their egg yolk muffins.)
I got their signature Duck Confit ($26) and a Piccolo Latte ($4).
Both exceeded my expectations, though there are certain parts of the duck that was dry. The skin wasn’t crispy, but the candied nuts compensated for all of that, and the well-sauteed mushrooms made the dish balanced. The cup of latte wasn’t legendary, but I can’t deny this has become one of my favorite brunch places in Bukit Timah.
Have you tried Prairie by Craftsmen in any of their branches — River Valley, Bukit Timah, Joo Chiat? Let me know in the comments below!
