I think the neighborhoods of Little Baguio and P. Guevarra are a bit understated and overlooked. The whole Wilson Street is crammed with Chinese restaurants that are already more than a decade old, so it’s no surprise that restaurants have been tapping this market for those foodies who are looking for a change in scenery. There’s much to be discovered with the Restaurants in Little Baguio, P. Guevarra and Wilson Street.

Everyone’s question: Where to eat in Greenhills?

Whenever I’m around San Juan area, I feel limited by the choices that Greenhills Shopping Center offers everyone. More often, these are overkill restaurants that haven’t got a clue how to attract customers. We certainly end up with little or no restaurant choices at all. That’s exactly what I felt when I stepped in their new Promenade Extension wing.

I’m always glad there’s the area of Little Baguio and Wilson Street, as alternative to the commercialized restaurants in Greenhills. Parking spot may be hard to secure, so best to go here early. I won’t recommend getting a cab on your way here. Little Baguio at night can be scary, and dark and you can easily get lost. Best if you come here as a group in a single car or take Uber instead. But I believe the area of Little Baguio has even more worth than every foodie’s hassle in heading for Binondo for a food trip.

Why it’s worth mentioning: If you love Chef Sharwin Tee’s jovial demeanor in his cooking show Curiosity Got the Chef aired in Lifestyle Network, you’ll love the quirkiness of his cuisine at The Quirky Bacon. Why it’s worth mentioning: Greeka Kouzina first spiraled into fame with its humble beginnings at P. Guevarra. Residents here can still vouch for Greeka Kouzina’s delicious Greek and Mediterranean dishes particularly in Roast Lamb, Souvlakis, and Gyro’s that have become a crowd favorite even in other areas.

Why it’s worth mentioning: Mu Noodle Bar is one of the best Asian Fusion cuisine restaurants for me. Owned by Mann Hann, you cannot miss their Salted Egg and Cheese Oyster Cake, Cereal and Hoti Prawns and my ultimate favorite, 3 Cup Chicken. If you’re going to eat somewhere near in San Juan, Mu Noodle Bar needs to be on top of your list.

Why it’s worth mentioning: If you haven’t tasted Serbian cuisine, it’s best to start at Balkan Express. Balkan Express is best known for their Pljeskavica beef burger, Balkanski Kebab, Goulash and Phyllo pastry creations that are even present in salad. No clue what these taste like? This store is also a convenient store on the side, but locals of Little Baguio love Little Store for their Adobong Spareribs, Yang Chow Fried Rice and Sugpo set meal.

Why it’s worth mentioning: Antojos Restaurante is a gem in the heart of Little Baguio. A brainchild of the uber young Chef Anton Amoncio, Antojos gives Filipino cuisine a modern twist, and this makes it incredibly hard to secure a reservation. You’d be surprised at the calibre of celebrities dining at Antojos Restaurante, many of which have taken a liking for their Cheesy Beef Kaldereta and Strawberry Beef Tapa. Here’s where you can enjoy reinvented Filipino cuisine.

Why it’s worth mentioning: If you love crepes, whether savory or sweet, La Creperie in Little Baguio will get your tastebuds drooling with French crepe creations. I’m not a huge fan of savory crepes, but La Creperie’s long list of cheese crepes with Emmental and Gruyere cheese makes me want to change my mind.

Why it’s worth mentioning: Taking a name from it street, Calderon is one of the hole in a wall restaurants you must try when in San Juan. It’s space might be a bit cramp, but Dynamitas Fritos, Paella, and Callos are spanish dishes that won’t shoo you away from getting a taste of Spain in the heart of Little Baguio.

Why it’s worth mentioning: For the Japanese food lover like me, you won’t feel out of place in Little Baguio. There’s always Yuujin Japanese Cuisine restaurant’s Gindara and Crazy Maki that’s their bestseller. Parking is a bit hard to come by, so best to arrive early for dinner.

Though quality of their buffet selection may not be the best that we know, there’s a familiarity in the way to deliver things that makes the residents come back home.

Why it’s worth mentioning: Quezon City may have its Eat Fresh Hong Kong Famous Street Food (and so does Little Baguio) and Bugis Singapore Street Food, but Yen Yen Taiwanese Street Food rules the Little Baguio area. What can you expect? There’s always that pork chop rice that we’re very familiar with, couple with that some pork intestine, and braised noodles, and you don’t have to fly to Taipei for a food trip.
