If Boston has the Quincy Marketplace and Faneuil Hall Marketplace, San Francisco has the Ferry Building, the gateway to Vallejo, Angel Island, Harbor Bay, Tiburon and other destinations that people come and go.

There’s the ACME bread, the famous thick cut toasts that spun the $4 toast revolution that I would probably write a TLDR article about (again).

Humphry Slocombe has epic, snaking lines for their Vietnamese coffee and “Secret breakfast” ice cream, the heat of San Francisco sun not helping to resist the temptation.

Blue Bottle Coffee San Francisco 1

Blue Bottle Coffee’s Ferry Building stall is so popular, they actually have two sides of their store open as a counter where you can have coffee to go.

I can’t really blame you for falling in line just for their New Orleans Coffee Brew. Guilty as charged.

But I’m telling you to skip all these establishments when you have only 24 hours to spare in San Francisco, and go all the way to the humble “San Francisco Fish Company” store.

Lo and Behold. Check out those freshly shucked Royal Miyagi (Canada) and Blue Point (New Jersey) oysters sitting beautifully at the bar for you to slurp.

You don’t have time to sit at Hog Island to grab the oyster platter or drive all the way to Polk Street to visit Swan Oyster Depot. Why would you want to grab a salad from a salad store when you can buy a single oyster for $2?

Yes, you heard me. That’s $2 for an oyster.

If you have enough time grab San Francisco Fish Company’s Crawfish Etouffee ($13), Shrimp Po’ Boy ($13) or Soft Shell Crab Po’ Boy ($12), then good for you. But don’t miss out these fresh, briny oysters that remind you of the scenic view at the back of the Ferry Building.

Oyster never tasted this fresh and fast, until San Francisco Fish Company.
