Starbucks opened their very first Starbucks Roastery in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, which suffice to say, has been a huge success given its experience design. In my opinion, the Roastery in Seattle beats the experience at the first Starbucks store.
The Starbucks Roastery in Seattle boasts a great demo of the direct to consumer Starbucks Reserve brew, from the beans sourced by its partners to grinding, roasting and all the way to serving to its consumers. It’s a worthwhile visit that’ll make you spend the entire day here. Some notes – there are special coffee beans that are only available in this Starbucks Roastery.
There are three bars in the Roastery
1. Main Bar
2. Mixology Bar
3. Experience Bar
Main Bar
The Main Bar will basically give you the best of Starbucks’ handcrafted Reserve line.
And it’s no ordinary Starbucks coffee because here you can get the Whiskey Barrel-Aged Cold Brew. (which is good if you want to try this out before getting the pricey $40 beans.) Made out of Guatemalan beans that are processed into Knob Creek Kentucky’s Bourbon barrels, you can taste hints of whiskey in this brew, though non-alcoholic.
Or a Golden Monkey Teavana, for those of you who are fans of the Teavana line. Get it to go and get one of these awesome cups.
On the other hand, Reserve purists can take advantage of the season’s specialty. Paradeisi Blend Vintage 2019 is the summer’s chosen brew. It’s coffee notes? Juicy pomegranate, lemon zest and some brown sugar notes.
Mixology Bar
For the adventurous ones, I recommend heading to the Mixology Bar who can’t seem to decide their loyalty between getting a coffee or unwinding with a martini. That’s exactly what I did with their Espresso Martini. A highlight to my visit at the Mixology Bar, the Espresso Martini has barrel-aged vanilla syrup, freshly pulled espresso shots, and to my delight, vodka. Topped with shaved chocolate, this concoction is the best of my favorite hard drink and pastime.
Other favorites include the Whiskey Cloud, Agave Old-Fashioned and Silver Needle Highball, which is Teavana-infused and elderflower tonic. But of course, you can’t go wrong with just plain old whites and reds, also available at the Mixology Bar.
Experience Bar
To those of you who are into squeezing the best of those coffee beans through siphon method (and you know there’s a huge difference in the taste in each coffee brewing method), the Experience Bar gives you a live performance of the Roastery’s talented baristas.
The Roastery
Right next to the Experience Bar is the Roastery itself. Just make sure you don’t leave the place without enjoying the walkthrough of the methodology. It’s great to appreciate what your coffee has gone through.
Princi at Starbucks Reserve
If you ever get hungry, Princi’s bites are available in the Roastery. I’d recommend getting a tiramisu and some pizza bites.
And of course, you don’t leave the place without getting anything, whether it be coffee beans or these incredibly expensive Marcel Wonders. Either way, there’s always something at the Roastery for everyone.
