TWEEDLE BOOK CAFE: Dark & Infused Hot Chocolate by The Chocolate Chamber
While everyone else has been digging specialty coffee, Tweedle Book Cafe takes advantage of The Chocolate Chamber’s local cacao beans. It will come across a surprising fact that our country is abundant in different variants of cacao beans including high quality ones that have the potential to compete with those in Ghana and Indonesia. At Tweedle Book Cafe, we can get a taste of Cebu’s TCC. (TCC almost sounds like The Coffee Connoisseur originating from Singapore.)
Tweedle Book Cafe is owned by Jamie Perez who’s the sibling of the blogger JLTE. For someone who loves to read books, Tweedle Book Cafe is a haven for such. I share the same love for reading, except I have switched from paperbacks to Kindle and epub versions. Believe it, the latter allows me to read faster, and I can read a medium length novel in a half day.
At Tweedle Book Cafe, you can borrow books from popular fiction to graphic novels while sipping your hot chocolate drink. It’s a brilliant idea to earn from a collection of books that has been sitting on shelves. Reading is all about sharing, and at Tweedle Book Cafe, it’s best to share your cup of hot chocolate too.
They serve dark (P185) and infused (P160) hot chocolate drinks, with infusions from salted caramel, to cinnamon ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and more. I find the infused version similar to Swiss Miss hot chocolate packs with a slightly elevated, clean taste in chocolate and special add-on, minus marshmallows. The salted caramel infused hot chocolate was rather good, with an aftertaste of saltiness after sipping the richness of chocolate. I would recommend getting the dark chocolate which has a stronger chocolate taste, so you’ll get a feel of the quality in TCC’s hot chocolate.
Tweedle Book Cafe is on soft opening, with Merry Moo ice cream, pies and sandwiches being served for those who want a quick bite and Malbec wines for unwinding. The location doesn’t hurt, and is a toss between Toby’s Estate and Omotesando Koffee, which is best reached by a neighborhood stroll.
