Where to Eat in Chinatown NYC: The Best Restaurants along Mott Street

As a designated foodie, I’m always on the hunt for cheap and delicious eats. Chinatown in NYC has a plethora of choices where you can eat, and sometimes it can get overwhelming. I don’t advise just making your way inside without checking Yelp or this list. When Nom Wah Tea Parlor, NYC’s oldest Chinese restaurant, is too full for you to eat, where do you go? Just because the place has long lines doesn’t mean it’s the best dimsun in Chinatown. Here are some of my top picks where you can eat in Chinatown: (I’ll be updating this list often!)

Noodle Village

Address: 13 Mott Street, New York, NY 10013
Telephone Number: (212) 233-0788
Official Website: https://www.restaurantji.com/ny/new-york/noodle-village-/

This place is all about noodles. They have the best wonton noodles so far – more than Wonton Noodle Garden in Mott Street. If you’re ever in this area to watch the lion or dragon dance, and Mott Street becomes too crowded, I would suggest coming here earlier than the busy hours. The staff can get quite busy and they won’t really pay much attention to you. Also this place has a $20 minimum credit card charge (I know, it’s illegal when the minimum in NYC should only be $10) but you haven’t got a choice.

Order this Ox Tail Curry Noodle and you won’t regret it.

Or this Hong Kong Style Lo Mein with Black Egg Dumplings. These are different and the only ones I’ve seen done right so far in NYC.

They also have pretty good soup dumplings, where the skin is not too thick to be annoying.

Pair with hot milk tea and it’s a great meal for under $12.

Cha Chan Tang

Address: 45 Mott St, New York, NY 10013, USA

It’s nothing like Hong Kong‘s #1 Cha Chaan Teng Tsui Wah, in my opinion, but this is where you can get those Coca Cola Chicken Wings to die for.

Plus, they have unbelievably fried french toast.

And yes they also have those crispy buns with condensed milk. Not like Tsui Wah! But passable. Sorry, I have really high standards when it comes to Asian food in NYC.

It’s a great sit-down eatery where you can drink bubble tea.

Wok Wok Southeast Asian Restaurant

Address: 11 Mott St, New York, NY 10013, USA

This place is like a jewel for me when I’m looking for Singaporean cuisine. They have great Laksa and Malaysian dishes that they only offer! This place gets easily packed and especially if you’re going with large groups.
