Yaro Ramen Shibuya Center Gai 5

In my opinion, there is a hidden ramen gem in Tokyo that goes beyond Nagi, Ippudo and Ichiran. This big three overshadow the potential of many other obscure ramen shops. YARO RAMEN is one of those ramen shops that is blossoming in Tokyo, with more than 10 stores sweeping the city from the popular Shibuya Center Gai near Inokashira-Dori all the way to Yokohama. Literally meaning “Bastard”, Yaro Ramen tastes anything but bastardly!

Its Shibuya Center Gai store is the only store that is opened 24/7.

It’s pretty funny how I came to know the success of Yaro Ramen, whose modest lines seem to attract a flow of foreigners and salarymen alike. To be honest, I didn’t know Yaro Ramen before I had gone to Tokyo, and we wanted to try a different ramen shop. Yaro Ramen’s chahan display beckoned us from the outside.

With the help of Scanner and Translator app, I was able to find Yaro Ramen, aptly translated “A**hole” and unlocked the potential of the Mega Buta Miso Ramen!

Yaro Ramen Shibuya

Like any other ramen shops in Tokyo, there is a vendo machine for you to punch your order. Simply insert your money first, before punching the dishes you want to order.

The machine will spit out your orders. Just hand them over to the staff behind the ramen bar once you have your table.

Mega Buta Miso Ramen – 850 yen

I’m glad the photo did some justice.

It’s cheapest ramen there is. It’s natural for me to choose miso base as it is my favorite, coupled with some corn and beansprouts. The bowl is overflowing with toppings, including the most tender roast pork cubes I have ever tasted.

Chahan – 800 yen

We ordered another plate of fried rice to go along with the rich base of the miso ramen. It’s good for three persons!

Gyoza – 300 yen

I’m not a huge fan of Gyoza, but Yaro Ramen’s plate of Gyoza is one of the best dumplings I ever had.

Karaage – 580 yen

Don’t get me started on their Karaage! The meat is so juicy and flavorful, while the chicken skin is very crispy, giving it a very distinct crunch after taking a bite of the tender meat.

Needless to say, our stomachs were stuffed with so much food! We had no choice but to finish all the plates as take-out is not allowed.

Yaro Ramen, I salute your ramen!
