This week, I found the best okonomiyaki in Singapore at Ajiya. I’ve been eyeing this restaurant for the longest time. There is always a queue outside during lunch and dinner, and everyone just wants a taste of Japan in Singapore.
At Ajiya, you can cook your own Okonomiyaki, and you can get 10% off. There are instructions how to cook, and the staff will guide you if you don’t feel confident. That said, I would recommend to just let them cook, so that you can sit back and relax. You paid for it!!!
You can choose between Seafood, Meat lovers, or vegetarian option. But I chose the seafood one, where I chose Tobiko, Crab meat, and shrimp to go with it.
Each side takes about 5 minutes to cook. Once it’s toasted, they’ll drizzle it with kewpie mayo, okono sauce, seaweed powder and the most important toppings – Katsuoboshi or bonito flakes.
Every bite is umami, and even I couldn’t finish the entire thing.
I also ordered the Scallop Mentai. It’s the best I have ever tried. The scallop is just incredibly tender, and I couldn’t resist scraping every single bit of mayo and cheese on the hot plate. It’s that good.
They also have the Potato Cheese mentai, but I would recommend the scallop more or else you’ll be eating tons of carbs!
I highly recommend Ajiya Okonomiyaki. Like, if there’s one restaurant you can go on repeat in Singapore, it’s Ajiya.10/10, need I say more?
