I’ve been wanting to try out Bearded Bella for the longest time. I’ve heard tales about its legendary Corned Beef Maple Toast, enough for me to trek the quiet neighborhood in Hillcrest Rise just to try it out.
And it doesn’t disappoint.
Bearded Bella’s Corned Beef Maple Toast is what dreams are made of. It starts with a brioche toast at the bottom, cooked as a french toast and mozzarella cheese perfection. It’s drenched in the corned beef’s oils (so it’s really not healthy, mind you), but the proteins don’t bother me. Tossed with smoked potatoes and onions, I thought it tasted a little bit like Katz Deli’s beef brisket sandwich, albeit a little salty. I wish there was something acidic to cut through it. Now, the poached egg feels like a finale, though it’d be the first you slice.
Egg lava. That’s a new food porn.
To be honest, the eggs benny could use a little seasoning but then of course, the plate would be too salty.
It does need some balance. Some greens. But I liked this toast a lot. One of those game changers for toast lovers.
