Botany Menu

Botany is another one of those brunch spots where you can get your weekend scrambled eggs and sourdough toasts. I, for one, have yet to get tired of egg and cafe brunches. Anyways, don’t get your hopes too high for Botany, and don’t let the beautiful patio lure you into thinking the food must be great. Botany’s brunch fare is damn pricey yet mediocre; coffee is way above the market prices that doesn’t even specialize in coffee. So be prepared to spend for a prime spot overlooking Singapore River.

So at Botany, I do recommend sitting outdoors if it’s not that sunny. When it’s a beautiful day out, you’ll find an excuse to bask under the sun. But then there’s always their warehouse interiors. I have to compliment Botany’s designer; they really thought about it clearly.

But the food is mediocre. Scrambled eggs, croissant, side salad (I’m neither a horse nor a rabbit but it tasted like grass by the way), and pork bratwurst (it was alright). Nothing special though I have to admit their croissant is impressive — surprisingly buttery, crispy and flaky. I would recommend getting that instead of the popular french toast (which you can do at home) or the sourdough toast.

Flat White $7

Their flat white is well, flat. Not the most robust flat white you get, diluted, and most likely it only has one shot of espresso. And the damn cup sets you at $7, way above the best of breed like Common Man Coffee Roasters.

I won’t probably be back to eat at Botany, because I could definitely find a cheaper brunch place that serves the exact brunch fare.
