I don’t usually like eating in dessert places. One: if I’m too full coming from brunch, I usually don’t drink coffee in afternoons. Two: dessert places are always packed in Singapore. I guess everyone has that separate stomach for desserts.

For the past couple of years, there’s a dessert trend sweeping Japan. Mont Blanc tarts. Yes, Angelina’s famous Mont Blanc that looks like an alien head. I’m not a huge fan of it because it’s icky sweet.

But Cafe Ma Maison’s Mont Blanc tart is an exception. Seriously, drop everything and go to this cafe. Sweet, homey, and Christmassy, Cafe Ma Maison is the perfect place for a catch up with your friends. I like its really simple, Home Alone interiors, and the cake selection doesn’t disappoint. From its Strawberry Tarts, Shortcakes, Lemon Tart to the Mont Blanc, I highly recommend you to try out this coffee shop.

Mont Blanc is covered with chestnut paste and topped with a sticky gold-leaf chestnut. Cafe Ma Maison’s version is one that fits my tastebuds. I’m in love with this tart. Trust me, I was in no mood for something sweet, but the lack of queue at Cafe Ma Maison gave me the opportunity to try it out. And I had no regrets. This slice of tart makes me want to order one whole serving.

Its latte doesn’t disappoint as well. I thought it was going to stay on the sides and just be another regular latte, but Cafe Ma Maison continually surprised me with their coffee. It’s served with their homemade cookies. And they gave me a free scoop of vanilla ice cream. Talk about sweet heaven.

Tonkatsu Ma Maison and Ma Maison are two of my favorite restaurants. Add Cafe Ma Maison to their group, and this trio just topped my places to eat for any occasion in Singapore.

Update May 16, 2022

For those who want a light meal, I recommend getting the Ebi Katsu sandwich. The shrimp katsu was so crispy between perfectly buttered Hokkaido Milk Toast.

Strawberry Tart was just alright, but the Strawberry Shortcake was divine. It is a MUST ORDER.

The Strawberry Choux was also nothing special, delicious, but if you want out of this world cream puff, try Baristart or Hattendo for a toned down puff.
