I was happily taking photos of shophouses of Tanjong Pagar Road when I stumbled upon a hipster bakery selling Bolo Buns. I was a bit skeptical but given the non-stop customers, I was compelled to try it out.

Champion Bolo Bun has seats upstairs if you prefer to sit down and have a quick bite. It’s no wonder the buns are priced 3x more than your auntie’s bakery. The rent must be terrible.
Once again, we have these bloggers who say it’s the best bolo bun they’ve had in SG. *shrugs* I’m always cautious when someone says “best ___ in SG”. That’s tricky.
They sell curry and mini bolo buns! But I decided to get the classic one with butter. Brings me memories of HK.
So if you don’t eat it within 20 minutes, the whole pineapple exterior disintegrates. That’s fine with me. Except, what the f happened to the butter in my bolo bun? Where is it? Playing hide and seek?
Surprisingly, they’d be glad to exchange a new one for you if you don’t get to eat it in 20 minutes. That doesn’t sound like a bad thing in terms of customer experience, but I wondered how many would actually go through all the trouble of exchanging one? Shall I go around Duxton Hill and come back and exchange one? I might just shove the whole thing in my mouth.
It’s a good thing I dropped the rating scale here in my blog. I’m going to let you rate this one instead.
