Everyone knows Chateraise; it’s scattered all over Singapore. But this particular store at Guoco Tower is extra special. It is the Premium Yatsudoki store that’s the second one opened worldwide, next to Dubai. And the pastries are really pricey. But if there’s one thing you must get at Chateraise, it’s their Fuji Premium Apple Pie.

I kid you not. These are the best apple pies I’ve ever eaten, and I’m not an apple person at all. It costs $6.50, expensive, but you’re bound to really forget McDonald’s apple pie for your afternoon snack. It’s best eaten fresh, and I recommend at the hour of Yatsudoki — which is at 3pm.

If you have extra budget to spare, you can also get their Choux dela Creme at $4.20. It’s not as good as Baristart, IMO, but it’s cheaper and definitely filled with custard cream.

They also sell Houraku Yatsugatake and there’s so many flavors you can really get consumer paralysis LOL. So I bought the Gouda Cheese. It’s filled with cream, bits of gouda, walnut. I think I found a new favorite for afternoon tea! The only thing is that this is a little steep in price at $3.20.

Other cakes I’m really keen to try include the Mont Blanc; chestnut paste is something I always love like Cafe Ma Maison.

I recommend getting any of the pasties, grab a cup of drip coffee at Japan Rail Cafe and sit at Guoco Tower’s eco-friendly open area. It’s so quiet and peaceful here outside of working hours, something to do to slow down the pace in Singapore.
