Food Republic Suntec City
The Food Republic Suntec City, which is a chain of fast foods owned by Bread Talk Group, is one of the busiest food courts in Singapore. At lunch time, it’s at a peak, where there are almost no vacant tables, and lines are building up in each food stall. To maximize your time especially for those of you who are traveling to Singapore for a 3 Days 2 Nights only, I’ll give a rundown of the dishes that you shouldn’t miss.
Food Republic looks like a giant bookshelf, with wallpapers that are decorated in each food stall.
Singaporean Laksa
Of course, there’s the classic Singaporean Laksa at Food Republic. This can also be enjoyed at Lau Pa Sat, as written in my previous post.
Duck Noodles
These duck noodles are my favorite. They’re better than the ones at Cafe Chong Sam, and they’re not that heavy on the sauce. It’s not too salty either. The noodles are just right. They’ll make you feel like one plate isn’t enough for a meal.
Roti Praha
This Roti Praha costs only SGD 3. They come in different flavors such as cheese, egg, curry or just plain if you like. I ordered a Roti Praha with egg, so this kind of like an omelette. Hot and spicy curry sauce is served as well. My friends and I were thinking of drinking it from the cup. That’s how good it is.
In the kitchen, this is how it is being cooked. The Indians are so good at cooking this. They’re quick at their feet and are extremely adept flipping the roti to its other side once it’s cooked. The Roti balloons once it’s cooked. It’s entertaining to watch.
They have jars and jars of spices that are authentic. The Roti Praha is quite cheap for something as authentic as this.
The Food Republic has a lot of International cuisine choices. Since Singapore is a mix of cultures, Malaysian cuisine is no exception.
Malaysian Wonton Pan Mee with fried shrimp wontons and hoisin sauce
When I first stepped foot in Food Republic, I immediately looked for this dish. It’s stir fried noodles topped with fried shrimp wontons. Hoisin sauce is drizzled on top of it, a delightful dish to eat.
There are other dishes I haven’t covered like Hainanese Chicken and Nasi Lemak, both of which embody Singapore culture and cuisine. I’m sure many of you have already been to Suntec City. Do you have a list of dishes you recommend aside from these?
