I can’t seem to get enough of quiet coffee shops in the west (Coexist, Prairie by Craftsmen, Carpenter and Cook). The latest I’ve tried is Flagwhite.
While admittedly, I haven’t tried their coffee, their classic mac and cheese was superb, stuffed with prawns and chorizo. For $15 (no GST and service charge!), this hot plate was one heck of a meal.
I wasn’t able to finish it. I think the mac and cheese could use more heat. More melted cheese. More goeeyness that we all love about mac and cheese. Everything else was just “warmed” (I hope not microwaved; I am picky when it comes to microwaved food.).
But anyways, I saw a lot of loyal customers who ordered the best-selling Chicken Parmigiana, Burgers, and Fish and chips – complete with a side salad and truffle fires. The portion sizes are huge. If you’re looking for a neighborhood coffee shop where you don’t break the budget, Flagwhite should be on your list. Something new to discover, something new to chomp on.
P.S. The super friendly and hardworking staff deserves a call out. Considering this place has no service charge! I thought that should be a step up for other restaurants.
