Kiwami Food Hall, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

When I first heard about Kiwami Food Hall, I was excited. Four Japanese masters in one roof? That’s amazing. So then I started researching who are those Japanese masters. Then my inner balloon started deflating… Yabu? Ippudo? Why?

Why not bring someone new?

Anyways, I suppose having newcomers Hachibei and Hatsunoko was enough to entice me to visit the food hall. My excitement dropped to skepticism. Surely, they can’t cram “Michelin” Japanese masters here and turn it into a commercial food hall. Yeah right. Michelin, my ***.

True enough, there was nothing Michelin-grade about these stalls people have been queueing for hours.

Hachibei’s Yakitoris? I don’t find them good at all. The taste of the Tebasaki, Tsukune, Tori Mune Tare were all bland. They needed seasoning. At P130 – P240 per stick, it’s expensive for something substandard. This ain’t Omoide Yokocho

Hatsunoko’s tempura was fair, I suppose. If you want a change from Yabu’s tonkatsu or Ippudo’s Akamaru Motoaji, I guess, this is passable.

I don’t even know whose Ebi Tempura Roll this was. The dishes were that forgettable.

Kiwami Food Hall, good to try, never to return.
