Another one of those “TikTok made me do it” posts. Everyone on TikTok is saying that Nylon has the best coffee roaster in Singapore. After my really great cup at Homeground Coffee Roasters, it was hard to find another coffee shop that will top it.
So I diligently trekked from Telok Ayer all the way to Everton Park. It was a tiring walk and I had to snake my way between Duxton Hill, past the iconic Pinacle and go around the Marine House. Tucked between HDB flats, Nylon Coffee Roasters has a steady stream of loyal patrons, carrying their own cup. Apparently, you’ll get 30 cents off your cup if you BYOC.
So me, an outsider in Everton Park, got my latte at $4.30. I waited 15 minutes before the barista served me a cup of latte… which was underwhelming. Best coffee, you say? It’s a decent cup, but it’s NOT the best in Singapore. Not even the best coffee I ever had in my entire life, which, up to this point, still remains to be Cafe Corridor in Hong Kong.
It was just alright. Nothing special. And I think the barista was fixated on talking to loyal patrons, they neglected new customers.
I think if you want to survive in this climate, you’ve gotta focus on your repeat rate… which means: is your restaurant / coffee shop good enough that people are going to keep coming back to you?
As for me, I won’t be coming back here. Next coffee shop please.
