Park Bench Deli Menu
I had a high expectation for Park Bench Deli. Everyone on TikTok and Google Maps were raving about its sandwiches, and when I chanced upon French Fold along Telok Ayer, the queues were so long outside. If the restaurant along a deserted street in CBD was busy on a weekend, then it must be good, eh?
But really, you should know that everyone on TikTok thinks they’re a food connoisseur nowadays just because they get thousands of views. Park Bench Deli was underwhelming to me. I like the Italian Hero sandwich, but at $18, I’d rather spend my money elsewhere. I can assemble deli hams and mortadella cheeses in a white roll at home, and there was nothing special about it.
I was eyeing the Pastrami sandwich on other tables, which is the sandwich they’re well-known for. But I’d rather not sour my memories of Katz Deli in NYC, or even want to eat a very salty Reuben like Wild Honey’s over at Scotts Square.
Had I not ordered the Creme Brulee Bomboloni, I would have a pretty bad experience at PBD. But at $8, the italian doughnuts were a tad better than Burnt Ends Bakery‘s brioche ones. Bomboloni was literally a bomb, oozing with cream that’s not too sweet and milky — just the way I like it.
Still, the price is on a steep side, and at $26 (not counting GST and service charge), this freaking meal is not worth it, IMO.
I won’t be coming back to PBD. I think there are better restaurants out there where I can better spend my money.
