Roberta’s Singapore: Brooklyn’s Pizza to open in Marina Bay Sands

Roberta’s is one of the best pizza institutions in Brooklyn, NY, and has stores in LA, Nashville, and Chicago. I’d say it’s quite a commute to go in Bushwick and this Michelin Bib Gourmand pizza place has this unassuming vibe that feels very Brooklyn. To the uninitiated, Roberta’s pizza in Brooklyn was really good. Itt has a soupy center we like in Neapolitan pizzas, and the tomatoes, mozzarella, meat — every bite is a delight and you can probably eat an entire pizza. And the best part about it is that the prices of the pizza are attractive. You can’t really go wrong with a pizza place in New York, most of which are going to be the best slices you’ll eat in your life. My favorite remains to be Prince Street Pizza, and I know it’s a Detroit square slice, different from Roberta’s. But still, I can’t help but question if they’re able to bring the same dough, texture, and ingredients here in Singapore.
Roberta’s Singapore is set to open in Marina Bay Sands on February 26th, 2022, Saturday. If you’ve been to the one in Bushwick, you can imagine my surprise that it looks so shiny here in Marina Bay Sands. It’s like Malibu Barbie decided to open her restaurant and make it look like a dollhouse. I could only hope the food is better — I know, don’t judge a book by its cover, but I wished they had retained some homage to Brooklyn and Bohemian chic.
This is their Bushwick restaurant. It’s a stark difference.
Now, Marina Bay Sands is commercializing a beloved pizza institution. I can understand the location choice. It would be difficult to market this pizza place location like… I don’t know, Robertson Quay!

As you can see, it’s around SGD 29 for the premium pizzas. That’s USD 21 in Brooklyn, so yes, it seems it’s a forex rate adjustment which made me a bit sad. Fingers crossed that the Bee Sting is going to be as good as the one in Brooklyn. I’d wait it out until they’ve totally settled down, become a well-oiled machine, before trying it out. Roberta’s Singapore is their first foray outside of the US.
