I miss Hong Kong so much that I’ve been scouring the island for a cha chaan teng that’s going to give me HK vibes. So Good Char Chan Tang didn’t do it for me. Also Legendary Hong Kong was a huge let down especially with their Funan outpost and I don’t feel like going all the way to Jurong just to eat at Legendary’s original branch. Thankfully, I was at IMM for some errands, and that’s when I saw Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room.

Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room wasn’t a hole in a wall place, because crowds started coming in by mall opening hours. I was glad we secured a table soon, because the queue showed no signs of stopping.

I ordered, of course, the classic HK french toast with soft boiled eggs. But this one had Kaya spread on it, so it was extra special. I loved it and it wasn’t the best, but I felt I was in Tsim Sha Tsui eating my breakfast. Kopi and Nai cha was passable.

The congee was the best, IMO. The prawns were large and fresh, but they forgot my century egg add on and I remembered it too late.

The wonton noodles were springy and the wontons were plump, and so that’s a must order for anyone looking to eat a filling breakfas/brunch at Wan Chai.

7/10, you can definitely try out Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room. It’s better than most restaurants (like Streat) around IMM.
