If you want to know how it feels to be fed like a royal, look no further than the Kaleidoscope at the Atlantis Palm Jumeirah.

I grew up eating hotel buffets. I don’t stuff myself with a lot of food, but I like the variety. From Shangri-la’s HEAT to Flavors at Holiday Inn, Marina Bay Sands’ RISE, and my personal favorites ANA Hotel Sapporo’s Hokkaido butter rich spread and the extensive breakfast buffets at the Amba Hotel Marble Arch in London with probably the best croissants I’ve ever had. I could go on and on. But there’s 1 buffet that’s topping my charts.

Kaleidoscope.

And it’s aptly named. This international buffet has a kaleidoscope of flavors that caters to every known food category. From bread lovers to vegetarians, seafood aficionados and Italian foodies… Kaleidoscope brings a whimsical spread that beats every known buffet on earth.

It’s not called the best buffet in Dubai for nothing.

Best Desert Safari Experience in Dubai with dune bashing, sand boarding, camel rides and evening BBQ dinner buffet in desert oasis

Start your buffets with sourdough breads, rye and dinner rolls at the bread section. While they’re not my favorite, there’s something seriously homey in slicing rustic bread and slathering it with butter.

And gradually amped it up with salads of every leaf and color. From Braised fennel to heirloom beetroot, pumpkin kale, pomegranates salad, lentils, avocado, blood oranges, you’ll find your diet inexplicably ruined with Kaleidoscope’s salad section.

I was practically excited with their smoked salmon. Most buffets only serve a single catch. At Kaleidoscope, you get Scottish Salmon, Gernadine Salmon and the Gravlax.

But don’t stop there because the cheese spread competes for the best one ever. Say hello to Goat cheese, camembert bries, leicester, cheddar and more from mild to medium to strong smokey flavors.

These are only appetizers, so the mains desperately need attention.

The usual roast beef carvings, turkey and lamb are available. But I encourage you to try the fish mushroom pie and the trendy Salmon Wellington. It’s difficult to make this because the outer crust is baked with exceptional attention on the salmon inside. If it’s overcooked the salmon dries up. I’ve seen the Salmon Wellington flopping at Hotel Jen in 313 Somerset because they dried it up.

But Kaleidoscope? Just look at that. So pink, moist and the crust enhances the textures of this dish. Unbelieveable for a buffet — where there’s quantity over quality.

To seafood lovers, rejoice as you eat prawns, Canadian lobsters and regional catches from neighboring Oman.

I loved the Omani lobsters.

Kaleidoscope also has a scallop station where the Chef butters and grills the babies on the spot. It was a tad overcooked to be honest, but what can you say. No buffet is perfect, but I appreciate this at a reasonable price point.

How many buffets have you seen that has a dedicated cheese wheel station? It’s so tempting to indulge in carbonara and cacio e pepe, but I recommend going slow with the carbs.

Because the dessert lineup is out of this world. Seriously, I’ve never seen a more comprehensive dessert station than Kaleidoscope. From spice panacotta to spiced ginger cake and red velvet cake, they’ve crafted every single dessert creatively and with much thought.

I ate at Kaleidoscope for Christmas, and yet the themes of the dessert go beyond Santa Claus, gingerbread and snowmans.

Here they serve a giant trunk of Sacher Torte, inspired by the Christmas in Vienna.

And if you love the warmth of Spanish Christmas, then you’ll love the churros served with dulce de leche. Pro Tip: why don’t you drizzle it at the chocolate fountain?

And of course, no buffet on planet earth is going to skip ice cream. At Kaleidoscope, they do it with a personal touch.

My buffet at Kaleidoscope left me extremely impressed and wanting more. It’s as if I’ve stepped into that Lotus Hotel and Casino in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief movie.

Buffet prices depend on the the theme for that night. Holiday buffets are slightly more expensive at AED 325 per person, but I can tell you, it’s all worth every cent for the buffet of the lifetime.
