HALAL CART, Financial District, San Francisco
Nope, I’m not talking about the Halal Guys. In San Francisco, there’s this unaffiliated HALAL CART, which is by far one of the best things I ate in San Francisco. It sits at the neat Market Street at Financial District, which is my favorite neighbourhood in the City.
I can just imagine how much the corporate bombers love this food cart that’s only opened during weekdays.
Lamb Over Rice – ~$7
An order of lamb over rice is good for two people (if you’re an Asian) but if I was super hungry I’d eat one whole order of it.
The line gets pretty long as many wanted to get a piece of their Chicken Over Rice or Lamb Gyro but the line moves pretty fast. This is the efficiency of the food cart business in action.
Don’t forget to drizzle with their special white sauce. And don’t ever believe those Yelp reviewers that say the red sauce isn’t fiery! *wink* But of course, don’t listen to my numb tolerance for spicy food. I happened to eat the Red King at Butao Ramen with over 10 spices.
So this red sauce is pretty much nothing.
I love the Biryani Rice. And ground lamb is delicious. Food doesn’t have to be expensive in order to be delicious.
News reported that the Halal Guys will be opening 50 stores in Southern California, and of course the Bay Area isn’t an exception, including Berkeley and Las Vegas. Now that would really get interesting. Halal Cart of San Francisco versus the Halal Guys of New York. I wonder who wins?
