Omotesando Koffee, Power Plant Mall, Manila menu
Let me introduce you most disappointing coffee shops in Manila. Omotesando Koffee is one of the Japanese coffee brands that I admired. I first tried Omotesando Koffee at the original Omotesando Hills store in 2014 (now, sadly, closed for good). Their iced latte didn’t disappoint and one I constantly made a point to return whenever I would visit Tokyo.
We all know how much we want Japan to open up. But for now, we’re all contented with scraps of Japan brands opening here and there.
Unfortunately, Omotesando Koffee PH might be better off not opening in Manila at all. For such a poorly executed shop to open at a time when the country was trying to get back on its feet was utterly depressing.
These cups of iced cappuccino and iced mochas looked too good to be true. Underneath all the milk and foam was the absence of coffee. Where, indeed, was the coffee? It was so light, and yet it costed P255, something I didn’t find to be worth the price. Quite frankly, I paid for a cup of air.
Omotesando Koffee reminded me of Halal Guys during the first few years of opening… We all know how that turned out.
(In fact, I was astonished at the massive drop of quality among restaurants in Manila, including established ones. Limited menu items, though understandable due to supply issues, but shouldn’t that encourage restaurants to improve whatever’s left in their menu? What in the world happened???)
