The Mission District isn’t all about Mission Burritos and single origin coffees. What I love about the Mission District is it’s potential to sprout homegrown eateries that tells the true Mission story. While the neighborhood is primarily dominated by the latin community, they don’t limit themselves to enchiladas and quesadillas. Their roots trace back to home-cooked meals – like Pete’s Barbeque.
Pete’s Barbeque combines the importance of affordable, huge portion sizes and family-style meals in Mission District, which makes it a very popular eatery any time of the day. Lines get incredibly long at Pete’s Barbeque during noon time, but manageable. Here are the reasons why:
1 Pound Ribs – $8.29
Pete’s Barbeque ribs are really affordable, because you can definitely split a pound between 2-3 people. While I think the sauce can be improved, and the size of the rib be more bite size for the flavors to really seep in, this is one deal you can’t miss.
You can grab a two meat combo for only $8.79, so throw in their famous Rotisserie Chicken ($9.00) and you’re all set.
Baked Potatoes – $1.50
Put butter on baked potatoes and I’m a goner. This is the deal. I couldn’t finish the whole thing!

1 Pint Spaghetti – $3.30
This is way too much for one person, so share with your friends, because this kiddie-style spaghetti will fill up your tank.

What I especially love about Pete’s Barbeque is that they don’t forget their roots. Their combo comes with Pandesal, which is a great meal to look forward to without the need for white rice.
