Roots Cafe, South Slope, Brooklyn

It’s been a whirlwind for me since I moved here, but I can tell you every second of being away from home is just amazing. For one thing, I live a block away from Park Slope, which is probably one of the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn. I’ve been to some places in Brooklyn and nothing really emitted a more authentic vibe than Park Slope. Williamsburg is great, a bit pretentious at times, but if you want a laid back life, away from the hustles and bustles of Manhattan, Park Slope is the neighborhood you want to be in.

It’s not only the so-called “Baby Stroller Capital of the World”, but Park Slope is booming with coffee shops, bars, brunch places, bagel pubs, and watering holes. An extension of Park Slope is the Southern Slope of Brooklyn. Many Brooklynites call Park Slope originally as South Slope. Roots Cafe can be a little hipster, but if you want to work somewhere without being too pretentious, Roots Cafe has iced lattes and espressos to keep your neurons active.

I don’t want to get your expectations too high. Roots Cafe isn’t La Colombe Torrefaction, but the coffee is pretty standard.

To vegans, Roots Cafe offers a wide selection of dishes from Black Bean Burritos to pressed sandwiches.

The staff is super welcoming and pure hipster, but don’t let her intimidate you.
