When in Dubai, don’t go on a diet. Especially if you chance upon Saudi Arabia’s most popular chicken nuggets: Albaik.
You can find Albaik in a lot of places… from Dubai Mall, to the Mall of the Emirates and even to the godforsaken theme park Expo City 2020 (which haven’t had any success since the pandemic hit).
Albaik started in 1974 back in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The late Shakour AbuGhazalah had a desire to open a high quality, affordable restaurant incorporating his unique “broasting” chicken techniques. From the humble Broast restaurant in Sharafiyah District, Jeddah, now Broast has transformed into Albaik now has over 120 locations worldwide.
Either way, expect long lines. Because Albaik is perhaps the most popular chicken nuggets in Dubai too. I literally had to queue 30 minutes just for these boxes of chicken fillet nuggets. It comes with either 7 pieces or 10 pieces of nuggets, fries, and the Albaik bun. Ah, that’s a pro tip from me!
You can either eat the nuggets on its own, or stuff the nuggets into the buns and turn it into a Big Baik sandwich.
They’re so addictive, you’ll forget McDonald’s exist. In fact, there’s not a lot of people at McDonald’s if Albaik’s around the corner. The chicken meat is real chicken. Not some mashed chicken leftover meat.
And if you’re feeling extra hungry, get the fish fillet meal too. They’re perfect to dip in Albaik’s special cocktail sauce.
But of course, they’re best with Jumbo shrimp. It makes your fast food meal all fancy.
So three boxes of Albaik for your dinner? Highly recommended. If you stopped by for breakfast, grab a nice cup of coffee and some falafels and hummus. It’s super cheap. Won’t even cost you AED 10.
It’s dangerous. But don’t go on a diet please. It’s a waste of good quality chicken nuggets.
