I can’t tell you how much I was bored in Milan. Sure, there’s the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II and Prada and Sforzesco Castle and all that marble. But Milan was quite… laid back to my surprise. If you’re heading to Lake Como, I think Milan is a great stopover before heading to Bellagio and Verona. But otherwise, to city lovers like me, I found Milan to be drier than expectations.

Take for example, Biffi at Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II. I found it the usual Italian restaurant. It wasn’t the first time I visited Italy. I had been to Rome 20 years ago and remembered the food being just pizza and pasta (and if you know me, I’m not big when it comes to Italian because they make me bloated) but other than parmigiano reggiano, I found very little taste profiles in Italian food.

Risotto milanese, which hallmarks Milanese cuisine along with the famed Osso Bucco, is good but after one taste of it, I didn’t want it anymore. Tenderloin steak was too dry and bland. Carbonara was even better at Brugges, IMO. And the pesto was slightly better. Nothing against Biffi. Nothing against Italian cuisine.

Taste is subjective so read my blog with caution.
