Day trips outside Osaka? Minoo Park is the ultimate outdoor getaway
If you’re looking to escape from Osaka’s urban jungle and have a change in scenery, visit Minoo Park, which is only around 45 minutes away from the Hankyu Umeda station. The place is a breath of fresh air from mother nature, and is where most locals go on a Sunday. What are you waiting for? Plan that day trip!
Minoo Park is home to the Minoo Falls. Trekking the mountains is like hiking Mount Inari in Kyoto so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. No wearing of heels or you’ll break your neck!
But it’s an absolute pleasure to go to Mino-o Park, as you pass by different homegrown establishments that show the simple life of the residents of Minoo. Majority of their businesses thrive on the Momiji commodity, which are maple leaves fallen from the trees. Momiji is then created as Momiji tempura on the spot. It tastes good! Quite a delicacy to be honest.
You can trust that Mino-o Park will transport you back to Edo era Japan with its dark, wooden houses that are so picturesque.
It’s like visiting a second Arashiyama Bamboo Grove destination with its colorful shops that sell omiyage.
Don’t forget to drink Minoh Beer! The beer is made from Maple as well, and is cheaper (400 yen) when you buy a glass before trekking up the mountains.
When you reach the end of the hike, the Minoo Falls is so beautiful, people really get to the edge just to take the best shot. Children play by the rocks ~ and I know that can be so dangerous! ~ but everyone seems to be swept away at what Minoo Falls can offer.
As for me, I was ecstatic with the great number of Japanese street food that I can get my teeth on.
This Chicken Karaage is, hands down, the best Karaage I have ever tasted. I can practically eat an entire box.
My friend got his sausage which tasted good, according to him. I’m not a fan of sausage so I can’t tell you!
Momiji ice cream is more popular for those who have reached the end of the hike.
Grilled mackerel! It smells absolutely fantastic.
But what made my trip to Minoo Park was this absolutely, mind-shakening, delicious Okonomiyaki topped with a sunny side up egg. I mean, isn’t that a genius?!
That being said, Minoo Park was one of the highlights of my Osaka trip, and it can be yours too.
