I found a taste of France in Singapore. Provence, specifically.

I am writing while being buzzed drinking the Queen of Fields. Cremant de Loire. Meadowsweet Vodka. One of the strongest and vile concoctions ever. If you ever dreamed of traveling to the South of France, look no further than La Petite Terrace by Claudine. Chef Julien Royer’s Claudine (of Odette fame) is a place in your list for celebrations, but the al fresco style of eating has permeated its Claudine premises in the form of La Petite Terrace, guinguette style.

The menu is limited, meant to be consumed with your bare fingers. So don’t ask for utensils. I recommmend the Prawn and Guacamole and black crackers along with Queen of Fields. If you long for an extended summer, La Petite Terrace transports you to the summer heat of France this August.

Of course, nothing can replace the real France. So here’s some of my recommended day trips from Paris, from Amboise to Trouville sur mer and my favorite, Giverny, where you can catch the La Maison et Jardin du Claude Monet.
