Top Restaurants and Cafes to Try near Haji Lane, Singapore

Singapore’s Haji Lane and nearby Bussorah, Kandahar, and North Bridge Roads can be a little overwhelming with tons of tourist traps. So here’s some of the top restaurants and cafes (and bakeries) you shouldn’t miss in that area.

Cafe Margaret

Address: 32 Bali Ln, Singapore 189868
Opening Hours: Daily 10:00am – 8:00pm
Instagram: cafe.margaret.sg

Seoul’s Instagrammable Cafe Margaret lands in Bali Lane in Singapore. If you’re looking for a nice breakfast scone or cube croissants to try (since London may be too far away), Cafe Margaret’s aesthetic interiors gives a pleasing day to start. While the interiors are cozy and the coffee is passable, I find it overhyped. But for those who love cafes and Injeolmi cube croissants, then Cafe Margaret is for you.

Ern Ern Steak & Fries

Address: 20 Kandahar St, #01-01, Singapore 198885
Opening Hours: Daily Friday 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, 6:00 pm – 10:30 pm, Closed on Tuesday
Official Website: ethanleslieleong.com

Ern Ern Steak & Fries is one of my favorite finds near Haji Lane. Housed in the same building as Maison Ikkoku and mixologist Ethan Leslie Leong’s much-rave rooftop bar, Ern Ern Steak & Fries services you in daylight with 2 dishes. Steak Frites and Fish and Chips, both at $20. I recommend trying out the Steak Frites with Japanese Miso sauce for a Japanese flair and top up $3 for truffle fries. Good find in today’s inflation climate.

White Label

Address: 734 North Bridge Rd, #01-01, Singapore 198702
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday 11:30 AM — 10:00 PM, Saturday-Sunday 10:30 AM — 10:00 PM
Official Website: thewhitelabel.sg

Brunch place White Label is a popular place for egg bennies, but I recommend getting French l’oignon and the Cherrywood Smoked Contre-Filet served with Bernaise sauce. I do believe the Muslim community offers some of the best chefs (and bakers) in the island. Here’s my full review for those looking for a different brunch spot.

French American Bakery

Address: 49 Haji Ln, Singapore 18924249 Haji Ln, Singapore 189242
Opening Hours: Closed on Mondays, Tuesday to Sunday 11:00am – 6:00pm

French American Bakery sg 4

French American Bakery, should be on top of your list. Their croissants and viennoiseries are some of the best in the island, after Petit Pain. My recommendations: creme brulee, cinnamon rolls, and a cup of torched marshmallow hot chocolate FTW.

Comer

Address: 674 North Bridge Rd, Singapore 188804
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 11:30am – 11:59pm, Closed on Mondays
Official Website: comersg.net

Think of Comer as the pintxos crawl in San Sebastian, Spain transported to the bustling Haji Lane. I’ve been to plenty of restaurants in Singapore, and I think Comer is one of the best, most well-executed restaurants that’s unpretentious. Get Croquetas de Jamon, Paella Negra, Gambas Al Ajillo and a Sangria. Opt for the outdoor seats and you’ll get the most unexpected dining experience in Haji Lane. Oh and happy hour is until 8pm everyday.

Coffee Donkee

Address: 51 Haji Ln, Singapore 189244
Official Website: coffeedonkee.com

Haji Lane’s ever transforming shops has turned it to Singapore’s Harajuku. And Coffee Donkee proves its point. Step foot inside their cozy coffee shop and it feels like Bar Albatross along Omoide Yokocho. Drink Japanese coffee beans — Sakura Blend and drip coffees. And if you’re like me, in a phase of hot americanos, Coffee Donkee is a nice alternative to crowd favorite % Arabica near Haji Lane.
