If you’re like me, and you simply cannot wait for Cedric Grolet to open at COMO Orchard this September, then Cotelato might help just a little bit to tamper down those sugar cravings. Cotelato is nestled in the quiet corner of HillV2, a trek for many of you, but if you desire a serene location to enjoy cakes, have a little fun and a cup of coffee or blooming tea, then this is for you.

By fun, this is what I meant, cracking open a huge ball of Red Hot Chocolate ($16). No, inside it is red velvet cake, not the hot chocolate liquid. Other variants include the Alcoholic Tiramisu ($19).

The Red Velvet Cake inside was nothing out of the ordinary. Less sweet and less cream cheese. Maybe I was looking for somewhere along the lines of Cheesecake Factory’s Red Velvet Cheesecake for its $16 value.

Cotelato’s Signature Coffee Blend made of Tanzania and Ethiopia beans brings out bland notes instead acidity. You don’t get what you paid for at $9, a premium price higher than the specialty coffee shops in the city. But if you want a change in scenery, then this is another dessert shop to add to your bucket list.

Other dessert places I would recommend:
Le Matin Patisserie
Nesuto
Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie
