When we were lining up for The Cheesecake Factory, my eyes caught sight of a hip brunch and comfort food spot beside it: Markette. It was equally packed, and it was normal because of the large crowds around the Aquarium. The following day, we decided to have lunch at Markette.
Yes, despite being full the night more, my stomach was eager to eat more dishes.
Markette appeared to have the same vibes as The Cheesecake Factory. Substantial portion sizes. Mediocre quality.
Oh how wrong I was.
Guests are served with some house bread, which were so warm and fluffy. Loved the bolognese-like sauce that came with it. So unique.
Shish Taouk. These were the most tender grilled chicken meat I’ve ever eaten. Loved the hummus and pita and the tabouleh.
Seabass. The skin was so crispy, the meat so buttery when slicing it. The ratatouille was so elegantly sliced. A 10/10 dish and I highly recommend getting it.
If you like the Seabass can also be served with rice.
Grilled Salmon. Also a stellar simple dish served with spinach.
Butter chicken. While I loved the sauce and the butter rice was amazing, I would skip this dish, because there were about only 2 pieces in the pot. Besides, the Shish Taouk > Butter chicken, any given day.
Chicken Penne. Just the right resistance in the penne, not too sour, and fresh in tomatoes.
Finally, shrimp aglio olio. I thought it was pretty mediocre. So you can definitely skip this in favor of salmon or seabass if it came down to choice.
Between Markette and the Cheesecake Factory, I recommend eating your dinner at Markette and having some cheesecake for dessert at the Cheesecake Factory.
