There’s so many great high teas around, so it’s only a must to do some research before you splurge on one. I think Fullerton Hotel has the best value afternoon tea in Singapore so far (when you don’t count Atico Lounge’s old 1-for-1 deal). For $51/person, you get free-flowing savory treats, coffee or TWG tea, plus classic and raisin scones on your plate. I’ve been itching to eat Devonshire scones since I miss Patisserie Valerie in London so much.
Oh scones. My love. I have nothing to say. I just love them.
Do you prefer Devonshire or Cornish? I prefer Devonshire — that is, clotted cream first before the jam.
The Courtyard’s Festive High tea comes with three tiers. Two sweet ones, top and bottom level. Middle level for the savory treats.
I love their savory treats. The festive high tea includes some of my favorites: Winter Truffle Egg Mayo finger sandwiches, Smoked Salmon Blinis, Pumpkin bagel, and Manuka honey-glazed ham. The savory treats, again, are unlimited. But you don’t have to call the staff. They’ll refill it to you almost instantly. I think Fullerton Hotel has the service in the country. They know what you need before you ask for them.
The sweet treats do not disappoint as well. I love the Ivory Macaron, Lime Raspberry Lychee Tart, and the Japanese Marukyu Matcha and Yuzu Swiss Roll (which was my favorite among the rest). Compared to Angelina‘s Afternoon Tea, The Courtyard doesn’t shower the dessert with so much sugar you end up feeling dizzy afterwards. Every bite is decadent and not so sweet.
Whether you’re a coffee or tea drinker, Courtyard also offers bottomless drinks. Choose from a selection of TWG Teas (I recommend Silver Moon since that’s a TWG basic), and the Cappuccino if you like coffee. The latter is frothy and too cute with the famous Fullerton Bear beckoning you. I almost didn’t want to drink it and ruin the beautiful milk art powdered with sweet cocoa.
Overall, I recommend the Courtyard High Tea if you’re looking for a place to catch up with your friends or simply just to give yourself a treat during the festive season. Fullerton Gold Club members get at least 20% discount as well!
